Hey, I'm going to get an Kicker 8" DVC that handles 200w RMS and 400w peak. What is the best amp out of these three to push this little guy?

only the rockford has 200 rms, the others are 150, I used to have an amp that looked like that, but it was 600 MAX....thing couldnt play for more than an hour, then I got the sony class D 1400 (about 600 retail with taxes)..that thing pounds pretty good hti 139.6 db with it! runs 2 12" type R subs
my friend bought a sony 800 class D..like 200 bucks at future shop he runs his 10"infity with it...I was actually impressed by it.

Nice sub but why only a SINGLE 8" ??? really lacking space ?

don't know if u researched but http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp

so u will need a amp that does around 200wrms @ 2ohms so none of those amps would work .
maybe this'll do -http://sonicelectronix.com/item_3706.html

Wait...that amp is a mono amp....it wont work. I dont understand why i cant use an amp that puts out 100wRMS X 2 @ 2ohms..doesnt that equal a total of 200w RMS, which is what the sub is built for...?

RF amp specs
50 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
100 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
200 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms

your sub is a DVC 4ohm sub meaning each coil is 4ohms - so u see how specs above fall way short

when u connect 2) 4ohms coils together it = 2ohms

PG amp specs -
# 2 ohms power output: 200 watts peak /175 watts RMS
so u get it now ?
even this'll work

if you are planning on getting 1 sub and a 2ch amp, you will have to get the DVC2ohm version on the sub (not the DVC4ohm version).

that RF would work just fine on a kicker comp VR 8", but you will have to get the DVC 2ohm version like i said. (then you just wire the sub in series and bridge the amp).

http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_product_details.jsp?cid=16518&c=0509Froogle& b=Kicker_05CVR8-2

that is the DVC 2ohm version of the compVR, that the version you would have to get if you get a 2ch amp. (plus, the 8" compVR is cheaper on this site :-) )

Mono amps are rec for subs because they are more efficient than 2 or 4 channel amp - does not necessarily mean that a 2 chan amp must be used on DVC type subs . Heck u can power 4 or more subs using a single MONO amp .

U have 2 choices :
2 chan amp with a DVC 2ohm sub OR
Mono amp with a DVC 4ohm sub

I'd buy the JL (with the 4ohm DVC) cause its the best out of those other amps mentioned in this thread ...

the choices above are based on products in this thread & doesn't necessarily apply on amps or subs in general .....

I have the box, and I'm getting it professionally installed b/c i know people at a really reputable car audio shop. I'm going with the kicker 4ohm sub and the MTX amp [i think..maybe JL]. Thanks so much for everything...
