how smart is it to run 4 subs off of a mono amp, would you reccomend doing that or getting 2 amps?

you can do that as long as there 2ohm dvc or 4ohm svc
just need a powerfull enough amp to get them all there rms

well first of all you have to check what kind of load you would present to the amp and check and see if the amp is stable to that certain load. you should try all sorts of different wiring options as well, and different ohms of subs. you can do all of this without having to buy the stuff but go to sites like car domain and you can input different wiring options and it will show you the load presented to the amp. RESEARCH RATHER THAN ASK.

Nothing is wrong with doing 4 with 1 amp as long as each speaker is getting correct wattage & the amp is stable with the given load & also if your electrical system can supply the needed current .

No prob at all, just like the other posters said. I am using a Zapco Refernce 500.1 mono amp to power 4 RE12's.

Yep...I'm running six 12's off a 1600 RMS mono amp and it works out very well. (8 ohms each, all wired para. 1.33 final impedance)
