Pioneer ts-w306dvc: ported or sealed

Unregistered guest
I'm new at subs for cars. I think i've settled on one 12in pioneer ts-w306dvc. going to make a box for it, just not sure what type.
I listen to mostly pop music, containing drum bass. The small door speaks don't put out the kind of bass im looking for. So the sub would be puting out from about 80Hz and lower. Ok, so should I go though the extra troble and incressed size of a ported box. I guess I would make one if it would make the bass alot punchier or other wise "better".

provide the Qts number for the sub please.
this determines the type of box it's suited for.

its 0.48 for the dvc and 0.42 for the single coil. they recommend 1.25cuft for sealed. What would it do to the sound, like clearness, if I made the box smaller or larger than recommended. for ported size it reconnends 1.65 cuft.

also is the ts-w306dvc the best sub for around $70 or are there better subs for the same price.

Now this is something i DO know about 1st hand !

I just answered all the details on this in another thread titled 'yo rovin'

I have to agree with Tyler. I run a set of 305's and had them in a sealed to start. But it was only about 1.25cuft per sun. I switched to a ported 3 cuft. ported and made them sound so much better.
Getting ready to put thim in a 5.5cuft ported box.
But seriously go with the ported you will be amazed.

Ok guys thank you much. That is what i'll get a 305 or 306 and make a 1.65cuft box tuned between 30 and 40Hz. I'm too cheap to buy a box.

One more thing how big of amp do I need to get the most out of the sub.

Well 305 is the older model that does 400wrms - 800w max
Newr 306 model does 400wrms - 1000 w max . $55 online

If its only 1 sub then http://sonicelectronix.com/item_3733.html

& wire the sub @ 2ohms

Build your own box with 1" MDF which has better properties than common 3/4" .

Use the box building/tuning calculators here www.the12volt.com
