i'm not as familiar with the sx line as some others here. generally though, like adire's new ratings, the rms is a thermal rating regarding the voice coils limits (heat). the actual power will depend on the enclosure.
also generally speaking, a 12 will indeed be punchier than a 15, and a 15 will play lower than a 12". more surface area generally enables a driver to move more air, playing louder and lower with less excursion than say a comparable 12" would require.
size is a matter of preference. i like the sound of 12" b/c of space and the newer excursion capabilities of drivers like the sx. but i'm beginning to respect 15"s more as time passes.
i'm sure others can provide greater detail specifically relating to the sx though.

i also need to consider if i get an XXX, i will need at least 1600 rms powering it, which won't be cheap... Thats the thing that sucks, when u want a sub that can handle more, you need to get a bigger amp or its kinda a waste of money.

If i bought an XXX and used the JBL GTO 1201.1 amp, would it sound any better than if i bought an SX instead???

I am also limited by space as to how big my box can be. (camaro hatchback) I have a sealed box for 2 12" in there now and there is still a little room to one side of the box, and i think there is like 2-4 x 36 inches underneath the box that i could also use to make a ported box. I have seen a ported box for 1 12" that will fit in a camaro.... but i most likely can not fit a ported 15". I could probably do a sealed 15" but is that a dumb thing to do?
