I'm guessing your talking about the Alpine 1242D Type R. It's a Dual 4 ohm Voice coil sub if I'm not mistaken. You can wire it to take a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load.
(Check here http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html?subs =1&impedance=DVC4x2)

The Alpine MRD-M605 runs at
RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 400W x 1
Per channel into 4 ohms : 250W x 1
RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 600W x 1

So I guess you could run the Amp + sub at a 2 ohm load with 600W RMS. I don't know how reliable Alpine amps are but if the specs are correct than it should work fine.
