I just hooked up a system in my buddys explorer. He has two 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch HE's and a Power 501Bd amp. Got it all hooked up and sounds great. Then he wanted me to hook up another amp for the 2 Rockford Fosgate 6x9's. Got everything hooked up, light on the amp is green, but no sound what so ever coming from the 6x9's.

Got the 6x9's working now. Sound good with the engine off. When I start the truck, nothing but engine noise from the 6x9's, but the subs still sound good.

gain may be set too high on the amp.
also may be a bad ground point on that amp.
I'd bet its the gain though

just gets louder when i turn the gain up, and it's grounded to the capacitor with the other amp.
was that a wrong thing to do?

oh no!!! you're supposed to ground the amps and cap all seperately!!!

they can all be grounded to the same spot (like, 3 ground wires going to the same location). but you dont run the amps ground wire back to the cap.

running the RCAs together doesnt cause any problems. running the RCAs and power wires together may.

keep the gain set no higher than one quarter of the way up.
take the capacitor out of the circuit and see if that stops the noise.
the cap isn't doing anything to help you anyway to be honest.

are you saying run seperate power and ground wires for the smaller amp and leave the cap out, or can i still keep the power wire hooked up to the cap and just run a seperate ground wire, because, unlike Infinity, I have always ran the power and ground wires to the cap and never had a problem.

I'm saying totally remove the cap from the equation and see what happens
