hondarider Unregistered guest | what if the sub i buy is recomended for sealed wood ported still be ok |
hondarider Unregistered guest | and could i buy a ported box or do u have to port a sealed box yourself? |
Silver Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 440 Registered: Aug-05 | if it is recommended for a sealed enclosure then you should go ahead with the sealed enclosure, unless you know how to tune a box, go to an audioshop and have them build you one![]() |
Silver Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 441 Registered: Aug-05 | the reason i say to have a ported box built is b/c every sub varies in the amount of airspace it needs to perform at its best, and most boxes can't supply you with the proper airspace![]() ![]() |
hondarider Unregistered guest | is this a good sub?http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6255161&type=product&productCatego ryId=cat03081&id=1072284520697 |
Silver Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 446 Registered: Aug-05 | it should be okay, as long as you don't put more than 200 watts rms on it.![]() |

hondarider Unregistered guest | i read somewhere that if the efficiency is just 3 db lower u will have to have the volume up twice as high for the same sound is this true |
Silver Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 450 Registered: Aug-05 | to gain 3db you have to add another sub with the same power on both as you had on just the one sub or you have to port the box or you have to double the power to the sub. |
Silver Member Username: ScubasteveAnnapolis, MD Post Number: 403 Registered: May-05 | hondarider, the volume knob will not have to be literally twice as high for the volume of the sub with low efficency to be as loud. Volume knobs apply power exponentially to make up for the fact that the decibal scale is logrithmic. |
