groundshaker i just interested in knowing what your goin to do with those subs. ported or sealed and what enclosure volume. i have just one power HX2 15 that i got for $300 and i have to say its very disapointing. Its litterally an overbuilt piece of crap they designed it so poorly that you get terrible lead slap on the cone. it accually will start to sand away the paper cone which could be a very big problem later. anyway it not to hard to fix but even when you do the SQ is crap and spl isn't that good either. also there wonderful 18.5 pound magnet is WAY overdone and there mostly for look. if you haven't bought them yet i would very highly recommend you look around for the money you get get a hell of a lot better. even half price there $300 and you can get an Adire Brahma for about that with 28mm of Xmas instead of 19mm Xmas. A huge diff in resulting spl and the brahmas have awsome SQ.

i have a custom small triple sealed box for the C-Vs and single custom boxes for the infinity's and btw, rockford subs do suck for the most part but nice mids/highs hehe

2 2 way Rockford 6.5's
2 Pioneer 4x6's
1 Pioneer 75x2 amp for 6.5's
Sony CDX-M630 HU (weakest link)

Decent for my S-10, Spent under $1000 with install

I will eventually get Infinity Kappa 6.5's and 4x6's with a better amp for them for sure. I will also definately replace the HU with Pioneer or Alpine. I was unknowing when I bought my current setup, the only thing I really investigated was the sub and amp for the sub.

Yeah, the first time I saw the ROCKWOOD stuff, I about died laughing. Anyway, I played dumb and the salesman kept telling me how it was the best and they had all these tropy's in competitions, and on and on. I finally asked some questions like- do they have pulse width modulated power supplies, are there no jumpers on the board, etc. He quickly ran off, did I post FUBR subs in my nightmare system, I meant Theater Research, you know, driving around in the circuit city white van.

^ WHEWWW.. NICE!!

how are those ID max's treatin ya? so far at least?.. i don't know if you know this or not, but the word from people and installers, now former stores that carried ID, is that almost ALL ID max's FAIL, due to poor cooling and voice coil alignment problems.. =4.. the voice coils don't stay linear and rub the sides.. =4.. heads up if you didn't know!!

I own a stereo shop and the BMW is just our demo car for the products we sell so it's not a daily driver. As far as the IDMAX's we haven't had any problems or complaints about them from any of our customers that have bought them. I must admit though the JL Audio w7 and Orion H2 subs are my best sellers. Not too many people know about Image Dynamics. Thanks for the heads up maybe we should stop carrying their subs.

Joey, generally nice setup, but try re-tuning the ports to about 34Hz, and I think you'll notice a big improvement in bass response.
tuning too low lowers efficiency since the peak output with roll of will mostly be in the sub-sonic range in your case, and tuning at or below the Fs of the subs also will cause loss of damping for the drivers, which has serious potential for damaging them.

2003 Ford Focus SE Sedan:
--------------------------
Clarion 7570 tape head unit
Clarion CDZ625 CD changer
Clarion DPH910 DSP/crossover
Nakamichi PA5004, 4x50W RMS amp (interior)
JL Audio 250/1 (subs)
JL Audio Evolution TR570cxi 5x7" speakers (4)
JL Audio W0 12" subs, two in separate enclosures

1987 Mercedes Benz 420SEL:
--------------------------
Clarion ARX7470 tape head unit
Clarion CD625 CD changer
Lanzar parametric eq/crossover (to be replaced by a Cadence parametric eq/crossover in late summer 04)
Eclipse 3650 4x60W RMS amp (interior)
Pyle APLA1585 2x180 w RMS amp (to be replaced by an Autotek ss600.4 at 2x300w RMS in late summer 04)
2 SAS Bazooka 8" (to be replaced by two 10" or 12" Adire or ED subs in custom enclosure by late summer 04)
2 Infinity Kappa Perfect, 4x6, in front dash
2 Rockford Fosgate Fanatic 6.5" components in rear deck

I am also considering using the Autotek for the interior and getting a Cadence mono amp for the subs, in addition to (depending on your advice) hopefully using an infinite baffle configuration, as the car is built like a frickin' tank and I'd rather get the bass through the rear deck instead of through 22 gallons of gas, as the tank is right behind the rear seat.

At least the Focus is done! - and I realize now that the setup in the Benz is not all that it can be, hence the upgrade plans, but all in all, I get astonishingly clear sound and it's perfect for me and my musical preferences. My reference CD for that is the Star Wars original score or the Chicago soundtrack, which totally rock and make you almost smell Catherine's or Renee's perfume....

But perfection is always only a few thou away, right?

Have a good weekend,
JBG
