Just to add to this GlassWolf, it was these or Alpine SWR-1242D I was thinking of for my budget. Thanks

between the two I'd take the alpines. I like DEI, but PPI's subs are pretty middle of the road. Not lousy, just not spectacular.

Both the Type S and R series are good quality subs. Each sub has the ability to have excellent output while playing fairly accurate on music, which is really waht you want out of a daily setup.

You can make just about any sub pretty loud in an SPL box, but yes these subs get loud and for a daily setup i'd suggest tuning no higher than 35 hz.
