The install. The design of the box, what it is tuned too has a lot to do with it. The car has some to do with it as well, and the fact they are running thousands of watts doesn't hurt either.:-) lol
i have 4 12" kickers in 1/4 nissan extended cab pickup, box was built for those exact subs and truck so what can i do? all i can get was 136 dbs o yea got 850.2 kicker amp
i am not sure what my box is tuned too. it gets loud, but doesn't seen like it hits that low. I am not sure of the db's, i have never had it measured. In the 23 of july, the place that installed it is having a thing where they will measure peoples system to see how loud it is for free. I plan on going there. but how can i tell what my box is tuned to. Or if the tuning should be changed.
You could actually go with another 850.2 that would push them perfect. Thats about 3/4 DB's right there. If you whent ported on the boxes, thats another good solid 4 DB's. So you're looking at the 140 range.
It really wouldn't be that hard breaking a 136 with a single 12" CompVR. If he his 4 12's can't break a 136, the box needs some serious work.

Not neccessarily. There are no certain gains from porting a box. However, it would be safe to say he could gain 3 db's with even a sub par design. A good design could have you gaining more than 4 db's. It all varies.
