What were these vintage jensen 1010's used for????????

i found a pair of vintage jensen Calstar model 1010 20 element twin-array column speakers in my grandfathers garage. i cant find anything. what were they used for? they are 5 foot tall 1 foot wide,4 inches thick. metal front grill.
