i took apart an old computer and took the fan out cus i was thinkin about puttin in it my amp....there are 3 wires going to the fan though, red(+) black(-) and then white wire, i connected the red to the brake light wires and grounded the black, leaving the white unattached adn the fan didnt turn on even while i was pressing on the back to give the lighes power, any ideas?

Why did you use the brake light wires? It might be better to try a different location...and the white could possibly be another (+) positive wire.

chances are pretty good the white is a remote wire that tells it to turn on.
