Would there be much difference between an 18" Ava in a sealed box and a 15" Ava in a ported box? Each running off a Hifonics BX1000D or BX1500D.

i believe the 15 ported would be louder than the 18 sealed depending on what the box is tuned to, either way its gonna be close.

you better tune the 15 really low to about 20htz or else you will loose a lot of SQ and as far as the 18 goes it requires about 10cu/ft sealed. I am runnning my 15 at 2.5 cu/ft sealed off of about 900-1000 watts and it SLAMS and sound very nice also:-)

no... thats what it was going to be... now im building appx 10cuft gross ABC box.... ABC boxes require a lot of sapce... thats why it is so big... they actually limit the excursion of the sub though allowing you to put more power to the sub as long as you dont exceed the limits of the VCs

For the avalanche 18, a qtc alignment of .707 requires a 7.5 cubic net sealed box.
