i was just wondering .. my friend has 2 12" Alpine type s Subs the older type s ones powered by a bazooka amp that puts out around 350 watts i think.. anyway hes got it in a 98 explorer .. and it just pounds so hard.. i have an 88 mustand hatchback and my 2 type rs being fed 500 watts each are maybe slightly louder.. is it just that suv's are more ideal for bass or what? both are sealed boxes btw his im guessing 1.25 per chamber .. mine is to the specs i got with the woofers .84

What are you comparing? SPL or SQ? With cheap amps like Bazooka/Sony/Pyramid/Pyle/Lanzar etc, they produce high distortion/clipping. Naturally they will sound louder than let's say, an amp producing clean sound. There is one way to expose the weakness. Put in a high quality cd with full frequency range. A classical music should do. His setup will sound terrible. Any $2 sub will sound great making boom sound, but to reproduce quality bass, that's a different story.
