DD's will be louder by a long shot. If you compare 2 vs 2 with the same size.

Im gonna get a DD 3500 series sub. Not sure what size yet though. Probably a 12 or 15

i personally would say so. this is just my opinion though. the 18" solox is very loud if u give it its required power and the extra surface area helps out some to, but dont expect clean sound from this sub

Wow, so much speculation. Check out Team Loud from Finland. They all now use DD woofers, not because they are popular or a good buy, but because they have the most output over all other woofers tested.
The highest number in the world to date is by a member of Team Loud, 177.9DB, using only 6 DD woofers.
There is no comparison to the solo x. It's moving mass weighs much more than the DD's, not to mention the motor strength just isnt up to par with a 9500/9900. It is incapable of reaching amplitudes as high as the 9900 for a few reasons.
I would take an RE, Fosgate, or Pioneer over the Solo X any day of the week.
There is a fine line between all of these super woofers, (RE, Pioneer, DD, Atomic, Ect.), but when all are pushed to thier true limit, the DD edges out all of them. Efficiency. Power handling. Efficiency.

This Could be considered an opinion But, for this moment, it Is truth. DD's are the loudest woofers in the world.

Listed are WORLD RECORD holders in DB Drag.
Here are just a few of the competitors who use DD that hold World Records at the present time.......

Ya dd's definetly out perform almost any number of L7's,i actually kno from expirence,my friend had to L7 15's in a Crx and they were nothing extrodinary, even while being pushed a past rms

One of my other friends has a dd9500(which he accidently poked a hole in)in a shitty ported box sealed with duct tape, whcih he built in an hour,he took it to get metered and pushed 143.2,the JL Audio dealer he took it too thought he was lying about the dd,and challenged him to a soundoff, the jl dudes w7 only hit 120's,and the jl dealer said his sub was having a malfunction, but he was scurred, nothing as of right now can compare with dd 9500's or 9900's

Thanks for your input chris, I do know the DD 3515 will be louder then the Avalanche 15 but not sure about the 3512 which is the 12". The DD will of course be ported tuned to 38-40hz. The Avalanche 15 is sealed.
