I need a 600w rms amp in 4ohm load(2x300w rms at 4ohm) or actually i could bridge the amp (since im getting 2 300w rms subs) and have it be a 2ohm load... either way i need an amp to put out 600/700w rms in the long run

BTW-- 150$ budget

jl audio 500/1 would make any 600 rms sub drop to its knees. 500 watts rms at 1-4 ohms. The rms watts dont change between ohms.

Yes it would Tim. However, they also are about double the price of every other amp.

Its worth the price tho. I dont know amp for $500 that can beat a jl 500/1 amp. Not one In performance /specs/price ratio. Ive had a vast amount of amps and nothing has beat my jl in opinion. Its worth the cost. What other company has 1-4 ohms 500 rms. none. all other amp manufactures amp watts depend on the ohm. not for jl tho. Thats y i reccommend it .

Not much out there for $150 unless you pick something up used off ebay.

Don't forget Xtant amps. They're as good as JL if not better and costs less.
Orion HCCA G4s/XTR/SX will beat JL 500/1, PPI Art series are better amp, PPI PC/PCX series will beat JL in price and performance.
JL make very good amps but at an inflated price. And they have no reason to lower it cause it's selling.

For $150, unless you run across a REALLY good deal on a great amp, you need to look into a JBL 600.1. Good amp for the price and all over the place, can be had around $150. Puts out 600 RMS at 2 or 1 ohm, by the way.

phoenix gold makes decent cheap amps that run 1-4 ohm without rms changing (like the jl you talked about)...i know it's not as high quality but they make a 600.1 or 1200.1 for decent price and is pretty good i think

Ok I'm thinking chocolate again??
Tim I wouldn't try .5ohms unless your amp states it can handle it. Pushing it too hard will cause the amp to clip/distort, most likely blow the output stage too.
If you want to try .5ohms, then look at Orion HCCA G4 amps.
