Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1055 Registered: Feb-05 | I know somone who is selling a Zapco C2K 6.0 for $750 and that is what i can afford after selling my ppi pcx 2200 and jl 500/1. I was offered the 9.0 30th edition first but he wanted $1200 for it and i whouldnt be even using it to its potential since im running the Avalanche 15. So tell me what you guys think about this Zapco C2K 6.0. Should i go for it. I will find out all the details withen a hour or 2. |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2747 Registered: Nov-04 | C2K 6 for $750 is a good price. If you can get the other guy to drop his from $1200, I'd go for it. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1057 Registered: Feb-05 | Hey isaac, that guy is selling me his C2K 9.0 for 2 installments. Im gonna send him $950 monday and $250 later for a total of $1200. What do you think isaac. I rather stick with the 9.0 because its class D. |
Gold Member Username: James1115Wilton, Ct Post Number: 2722 Registered: Dec-04 | you cant go wrong with either one they are both fantastic amps. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1058 Registered: Feb-05 | yeah they are top dogs |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1059 Registered: Feb-05 | I even have a brand new Zapco500m referance amp thats hard to get anywhere. Its 538 x 1 @ 4ohms and 700x1@2ohms...class A/B and it only has a 40A fuse. Excellant Amp i could trade up instead of cash. i could always sell it on ebay for about $600. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1060 Registered: Feb-05 | I even have a Orion HCCA 225g4 for sale if anyone is interested. Works perfect |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1061 Registered: Feb-05 | Im gonna get the zapco c2k 9.0 30th aniv. edition 4 ohm. Run my Avalanche 15 off of it for now. It can be set at 800watts. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1062 Registered: Feb-05 | besides its class D and more efficiant then that 6.0 thats class A/B design. |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2749 Registered: Nov-04 | MO, I wouldn't be so quick in selling 225G4 amp. You know G4 amps aren't available anywhere, so it is an excellent amp for collection. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1063 Registered: Feb-05 | yeah i found it on ebay for 127 plus 15 shipping. I dont even need it but i felt like getting it cause there was only one bid on it and no others. I just made one bid and i won. There was 2 of these sold yesterday on ebay and the other went for $137. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1064 Registered: Feb-05 | i hear the 225g4 puts out more then 400watts rms x1 @ 1ohm |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2750 Registered: Nov-04 | That's 400w rms @ 12v. So you'll get more in your car. I can't believe those fools are selling the G4 amps. Don't they not understand how well those amps were made? MO, you can use 2 225G4 amps in bridged mode for your components. Then depending on your speakers, you can get 100w rms or 200w rms per side. You won't find any 2 channel amps that can beat 2 G4 combo. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1065 Registered: Feb-05 | Yeah but im going with the ppi art 300.2 that i have for my componants. This when will just be a backup. And im stilling working on that Zapco C2k 9.0 |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1066 Registered: Feb-05 | Also for that Zapco 9.0 wont i need a bigger gauge power wire going to it after the distribution block ?? Cause right now i have one 1/0 gauge splitting into four 4 gauge lines. |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2773 Registered: Nov-04 | MO, you might want to experiment with 2 225G4 amps. Those 2 in bridged mode will give you more power than 300.2 amp. 225G4 alone is not enough to replace 300.2 amp, but those 2 combined, will be an excellent alternative. I need to keep an eye on 225G4s. It is lot smaller than 250G4 so I might buy one to use with my PA speaker and mic. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1067 Registered: Feb-05 | I mean im gonna use my ppi art 300.2 for my ID chamoleon componants up front and use the 225g4 as a back up. Also here is what a friend wrote me regarding recommended sealed box for my avalanche 15 keeping my midrange in mind. I'm telling you man go with 2.2 cubes sealed. I'm using 1.6 w/ polyfill now and even prefer that over the 2.2 cubes so i HIGHLY suggest using the 2.2 or you may not have enough punch or top end. My main goal is SQ so take my advice and save yourself some time, money, and dissappointment I have 2 pairs of XXX 6.5's which have about 6 times the displacement of the Chameleons EACH. Each 1 of my XXX mids can outdisplace 4 of your chameleon mids and i have 4 of them so thats like having the midbass of 16 of your chameleons. And even they cannot keep up with the sub when its in a 2.5 net box because the mids have to play VERY loud down to 50hz if the sub is in that box. I'm not talking midbass i'm talking bass between 50-80hz. I use a 64db/oct slope at 75hz so i'm not talking about 100hz bass or anything. In a larger than 2.5 you will have TONS of output in the 20-40hz range and hardly anything above 45hz. At 2.2 gross you get a nice balance from 20-65hz or so and then you get rolloff pretty fast above 65hz. Its still bottom heavy at 2.2. With my current 1.6 i get a reasonable flat response from 20-75, yet still 25-40 still needs some dbs pulled so that its not TOO much bottom end. |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2775 Registered: Nov-04 | If you have the space, then use a larger box. If not, then polyfill is an excellent alternative. I've used it with my sealed 18" sub and it sounds better. I really didn't have much choice cause Acura has very little trunk space. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1068 Registered: Feb-05 | So you whould go with 2.5?? space isnt the issue. Its going in the back of a camry or accord.. |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2777 Registered: Nov-04 | Yea. You can still use polyfill in 2.5. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1069 Registered: Feb-05 | polyfill just makes the box seem bigger right?? |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2780 Registered: Nov-04 | That's not all it does. It helps with box vibration. Instead of bass pounding on the wood, it gets "softened" by the polyfill. The end result is, instead of hearing some wood/boxy feedback, you get smoother bass. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1070 Registered: Feb-05 | So how much is necessary for a 2.2 box??? |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2784 Registered: Nov-04 | How much as in polyfill? I stuffed mine pretty good. Spread glue inside the box first then applied the polyfill in generous amounts. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1071 Registered: Feb-05 | Generous amounts meaning fill the box but not stuff it right? also for the power distribution block. It has 1/0 in and four 4gauge out and if i use that zapco amplifier i think i will need bigger gauge wire then that 4gauge right. I know the ppi art will get one 4 gauge but the zapco may need a bigger wire |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2787 Registered: Nov-04 | MO, you can always double up on the 4gauge wires if needed. Generous amount as in 3" - 4" thick. Also, if your sub doesn't have a dust cap, then create your own using the door mesh and glue. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1072 Registered: Feb-05 | This one for example http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=FB-1024D |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2789 Registered: Nov-04 | That's starting to get expensive now. Don't you already have digital voltage readout on your batcap? I would rather have that $15 d block. You already have a fuse near the battery so it's not required. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1073 Registered: Feb-05 | Batcaps dont come with digital voltage readouts. I wanna make my order now on KnuKonceptz and get what i need. So far im looking at the 1/0 gauge amplifier kit/ Krystal Kable 2 Channel 6M Twisted Pair RCA Cable/ battery terminals/PB-2044 Ground Distribution Block and all i need now is the Positive Distribution Block and im not sure which one and thats the only one that has 1/0 in and four 4gauge out and has the digital readout. So if i go with the Zapco 9.0 and the PPI art. What other products am do i need for the install.. |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2790 Registered: Nov-04 | The link you posted only has 2 4 gauge outs, not 4. You need 4 4gauge outs to match the ground's d block. I think that's about all you will need for the installation. |

Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 2795 Registered: Nov-04 | You're buying this amp? What happened to Zapco? |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Post Number: 1077 Registered: Feb-05 | The guy who was selling me the zapco 9.0 for $1200 was only gonna sell it if he got his hands on the bigger zapco amp which is the 4KW the monster. Anyways he says itll be another 2 weeks until he gets it and then he will sell his amp since he wants to make sure. I gave it some thought and i think its more then what i need and also very expensive isaac.. I went ahead and ordered myself the CrossFire VR1000D and it reads very nice from alot of people ive talked to so far. |
