i know gain is not a volume control and is used to match up the voltage with the hu.. but on the apine amps i have, there is a gain control the default is "0 db" and it goes up in series of + or - 6 dbs what exaclty am i suppose to set this to for a 4 volt hu preout?? i put it +6 db with my type r 12 and blew the vc but i had it wired to 500 watts right now i have a type r 15 (500 rms) to a 550 watt alpine
what is a db curve exactly because the amp ihas an input section and under that there is : input mode select, input level and input gain factor. if u could explain these that would be great
