Lets say i was really crazy and i magnetically shielded a 10w7 and had the proper amp for it, would it sound good in my house? Is there that much difference in home and car subs?

you'd need the right enclosure for it, and you'd want it cross-braced and reinforced, plus you'd want a pretty strong external sub amp for it (120VAC home sub amp not car amp) but sure it'd work pretty well.
main problem with a W7 in the house is that the sub is 3 Ohms.
most home amps are made for 8 Ohm loads.
