New member Username: PaliPost Number: 1 Registered: Feb-05 | Hi, I was hoping someone would help me out - Im bladdy useless when it comes to sounds. Ive got a couple of JL W0 4's. Ive just purchased a Rockford 551x amp, which I got dirt cheap. Anywho, I just realised that this amp is way to powerful for the subs. I need some advice. I realise that if I wire the subs up at 4 ohm, the output would be 70w - would that be ok, bearing in mind that the rms for the subs are 125w? If I was to wire then up in 2 ohm mode, the output goes up to 140w, which sounds far more appealing. However, like I said, Im very ignorant when it comes to sounds. How would I go about wiring these subs to run at 2 ohm, if it is possible? Please help...... Cheers |

New member Username: PaliPost Number: 6 Registered: Feb-05 | Yeah, I realise that. The only problem is that the amp I have powers at 275w max, which is way too much for my poor little subs!!! |
Bronze Member Username: Jlprix91West, Michigan Usa Post Number: 63 Registered: Oct-04 | Ok let me break it down for you if your powering two 125 watt rms subs you need an amp thats at least pushing 250 watts rms at 4 ohms i beleive, they are dual voice coil? the amp you have is only pushing about have of 275. you want to look at rms rating not peak or max power. |
