Don't know how the type R's sound, but I have a pare of the Hx2's! They sound ok for the price, got mine for $99, really good deal.
They git pretty loud, and fairly desent sq.
As for the amp, You'll need bigger than that!
The Hx2's need atleast 400 watt's, that's what I have to each one of mine anyway's! And they sound fine.
They could handle the required 500 watt's rms no prob!
As for the Type R's, I've heard they have better sq, but not quite the spl as the Hx2's, I asked the same question a few day's a go!
I'm looking to upgrade sub's, and everone was talking about how grate the type R's were!
Mine are the RFD2210 10 inch, if your intrested!

You can still git them for $109 a piece, I think. Let me check the web site that was selling them and I'll git back to you!
Not sure about the P3's haven't heard them yet.

Sorry if there was a missunderstanding, got mine for $99 a piece, not the pare:-)
I wish they only cost $99 for both. Still for $99, they don't sound bad!

I'm using the Rockford P8002.
Not sure about an amp that only costs $175. You might want to ask in the amp section!
