I had never heard of these speakers, but when I went from store to store looking at Rockford, JL, Alpine, Eclipse, etc...a salesman finally suggested I go to a Diamond Dealer...
man do these things ROCK!
anyone have any experience with them? good or bad...
anything I should know?
I plan to run it with a Soundstream RUB500/1 Rubicon Class D
matt I have a set of diamond hex 600a 3 ways and they kick a$$. I demoed alot of components and for the money I deff think there best.I have a pair of jl 300/2 amps, sending 150 wats to a set. Sound streams higher class amps are sick. The human reighn amp will blow you away, I mean you have to check it out. The price is around 2000$ they have a 4 chanel and a 2 chanel , there great but real exspencive. there Trantular line of amps are great to, also pricey, check them out. ut likewolf sed there lowere line amps are not that good so you decide. Great highs diamonds kick a$$. good luck with your amp choice.
the JL 1000/1 will put out the same amount of power regardless of the car's input voltage (11-16VDC) and regardless of load from 1.5-4 Ohms. You'll want a pair of 4 Ohm subs in parallel, or a pair of 2 Ohm subs in series. either one will be fine, and give you the best results from that amp.
Again regarding the line voltage, 8V won't make the system any louder than 4V. All the voltage does is give more resolution to the signal. It'll be "cleaner" in a sense with more detail. That's all. The amp gains will need to be matched to the input line drive voltage for best results.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
regarding alternator voltage with those two amps, you'll want an alternator between 100-150A larger than your stock one, so I'd look for something around 200-230A total. use 1/0 AWG cable for power distribution for the alternator, all ground points, the battery and battery ground, and from battery to amps. you can split down to 4AWG right at the amps for short distances.
