Why does the only local shop around here insist on tuning ALL of the boxes they build to 50-55hz? They act like they dont want to build it if its gotta be tuned lower than that. They say when you tune a box real low you miss out on alot of daily driving music
mmm. i would think it would be the other way..usually boxes tuned that high are for spl comp anyway. but i would just build one myself. i like low bass. its fun for everyone
yup your local shop actually has it backwards. Tuned lower gives you a wider spectrum of music since you can damage the speaker at anything under the tuning frequency for everyday use it is set low usually around 28-32. For comps they want the box tuned for the louder HRTZ which is ususlly in the 50's. If you tuned a daily driver that high with anything bigger than a 8 you would damage it fast listening to everyday music.
