The sub I have is dual 2 ohm and i was wondering how to wire it. I was told 1 ohm was easier to power and 4 would be safer and more bulletproof. I need 900 watts RMS, how should I wire it?
Hey Jeff, if your sub is 2ohms DVC, then wire each voice coil in parallel (pos to pos and neg to neg). This will give you 1 ohm. However, if you have 2 2ohm subs, then it won't work. You'll need 4ohms DVC to get 1ohm total using parallel wiring.
If you're wiring 2 of those subs and they're 2ohm DVc, you'll need to wire the coils in series and the subs in parallel to get a 2ohm load, that's the lowest you'll be able to go. So on the coils...pos of 1st coil to neg of the 2nd, then neg of the 1st coil to amp and pos of 2nd also to amp. Same for the other sub and you'll get a 2ohm load.
