i really don't know much about electronic, so I need your help! I recently got a KICKER KX 1200.1 Mono Block Amp from eBay, but i'm not sure what type of subs (2ohms or 4ohms)will best fit this amp? can you recommand a few so I can know to to do next? many thanks!

I also have a JL Audio 500W mono block & 2 Kicker 12" dual coil cvr, you think the amp will max 2 kickers to their potential power, they are 400watts rms a piece, or should i get a better
sub and use one only?

I am not gonna use 2 amps, just choose one of them.

Thank you!

the 500/1 will work well with two CVR12 subs.

As for the KX1200.1, it's 1200wRMS x 1 @ 1 ohm.
you'll need a pair of 2 ohm subs, or a pair of dual 4 ohm coil subs to reach a 1 ohm mono load.
The subs should be rated to handle at least 600wRMS each.

Two 12" Adire Brahma 12" subs would be fantastic with that Kicker amp.

glasswolf, to power 2 IDQ10V2.D2's would this amp : Kicker KX600.1 KX-Series 02KX600.1 do the job? Are there any better amps around the same price?
sorry i hijacked your thread ;x

that'd be 300 watts each if each sub is 4 ohms.
that'd work.
Cadence, Avionixx, or MTX may have some good alternatives in the same price range.
Memphis might too, but I don't have their current model sheets around

would you consider any of those above brands to be better than that kicker amp? I found this on a memphis amp that sounded to be about the same flavor as the kicker

very nice.
I like Memphis's amplifiers. I think you'd be happy with that amp.
remember it's 500 watts @ 2 ohms though.
the Kicker is 600 watts (a bit more really) at 2 ohms, but at 1 ohm, its over 1200 watts.
I guess it'll depend on the load you'l present

I hear these subs can take a bit more wattage than recommended. Since im going for the 10s do you think i should just get the kicker.. I mean i hear these subs dont hit very hard. Im comparing them to my friends 12w3s/ 1000.1 amp and i want similar punch. Will the 10s/ memphis amp do it or should i go w/ the kicker?

well, a CVR10 isn't going to come close to a 12W3 to be honest.. but it should be tight and snappy. good bass for the price, and for tens.
at haert though I'm still a fan of using twelves.

honestly dude, id love to use 12s. My cousin had 12w7s, i have 2 friends with 12w3s, one with 12w6s and my other cousin had some older 12` infinity kapps. All sound really good, but i just dont think itll fit. If you have some time check this trunk space out http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/638714/3
I read that theres about 12.8c Cu Ft
heres some other setups.. i guess it can give you some sorta idea about the space i have to work with
http://img124.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img124&image=setup5iv.jpg (theres a 12 on the side, but in white is the plan i have for my sub.. 2 seperate enclosures on each side sort of molded into the sides)
another dudes setup: http://img116.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img116&image=tc1ll.jpg
If you have any better ideas please share
and thanks for wasting all your time on this lol, i really appreciate it

and btw, i wasnt going to use a CVR10, i cant stand kicker.
I was going to use two idq10v.2 d2 250 watts rms each, the kicker/ memphis amps were 2 of the suggestions.

ah ok I misread then. The IDQs will sound nice.
you could easily fit 12" subs in that car if ya angled the box so they fired upward toward the front ceiling of the car, or toward the rear glass.. but that'd eat up most if not all of your hatchback area. It should be a great little car when it's done.
That scion is cute.

yea, damn thing is cheaper than a civic ex, and the stock system is @ 160 watts, that should give me something to look forward to when i add my subs in. The only damn problem is the trunk space lol. I also found the memphis 500D for like 250 shipped on ebay..good deal ?

thanxs for your posts!

I've found a sub on eBay, a Alpine SWX-1242D

carbon fiber/aluminum honeycomb cone
high-roll Santoprene rubber surround
cast aluminum frame
dual 4-ohm voice coils
frequency response 23-200 Hz
power range 500-1,000 watts RMS (500 watts per coil)
peak power handling 3,000 watts
sensitivity 83 dB
top-mount depth 8-11/16"
sealed box volume: 0.65-1.25 cubic feet
ported box volume: 1.0-2.0 cubic feet

http://i21.ebayimg.com/03/i/03/06/01/a6_3.JPG

you think Kicker 1200.1 will work fine with that? since the sub is 4-ohm voice coils , the amp is 2 ohm

thanks

And something to spec of the 2 IDQ 10s. I wanted to keep them in seperate boxes at each end of the trunk.
