i'd say 95% of the time its easier and costs about the same to just get the new product, a sub is a pretty complex thing to most people so what you see as to be a little problem in actuality its a bigger pain in the butt to fix...take it to a local audioshop, usually one of there techs will check the sub out and tell you what the problem is if you throw him like 5 bucks for lunch or something
