hi i was wondering i wanna be able to turn my amp on and off by hand and i was wondering if i can take the remote wire and hook it up to a switch and run the 12 volt into the pwr feed to my amp so its doing a loop from rempte to switch to pwr...thank for any opinions

If your head unit has a power antenna wire you can use that to turn on the amp only when the head unit is turned on. Use in conjunction with your switch then you can always turn the amp off when needed (like when taking your grandmother shopping, etc)

actually, if this is a factory head unit, don't use the PWR ANT line.
use a switched ignition wire.
If this is an aftermarket radio, use the REM line if it's there. If no REM line exists, then use PWR ANT.

Many head units including Sony and Alpine now use both REM and PWR ANT lines.
if you use PWR ANT, you'll only get an amplifier that turns on with the FM radio.
Not with the tape or CD.
