I really want to get this sub, but i dont want to run a huge 4 gauge wire. if i get an amp that uses an 8 gauge wire, will i be underpowering it? if i have to get the 4 gauge wireing then i will, i just would prefer not to

If the amp requires 4 guage, you absolutely HAVE to use 4 guage, if not you risk clipping the amp and possibly damaging your sub. 8 guage usually allows up to around 300-400W rms, remember that this is a Class D mono amplifier I'm referring to and depends a lot on which amp you plan to buy as some are more efficient than others. I'd personally put at least a clean 500W RMS on an ID Max, but remember they are very efficient and tend to work about as good as most other subs would with little power. You just won't get the full potential out of it.
