Bronze Member Username: SeawolfeBismarck, ND USA Post Number: 36 Registered: Sep-04 | The way I understand it is that an isobaric configuration is a good way to get bass in a smaller box. The box can actually be built to 1/2 the specified volume of the sub and the second sub is attached OUTSIDE facing the first sub and seperated by at least a 5/8 inch thick spacer. Everything needs to be sealed, including the spacer between the subs. the spacer is used to avoid subs hitting each other. When wiring, make sure one of the subs is out of phase: Wire one of them backwards (- to +, and + to -), so you get a push/pull effect between the two subs. Think of this configuration as using two subs to make one sub that inputs twice the power while not substantially increasing in output power. This is not for SPL applications. It is, however, good for SQ applications as it gives deeper bass and a harder punch (at least that's how it sounds to me). |
