Hi,
I hope you can help. I am interestest in adding a sub to my 2003 Escort ZX2. Right now I have a Pioneer 450 head unit, 6 1/2 inch CDT Coaxials in the front & 5X7 Alpines in the back. I have a US Acoustics 4065 (4x65) four channel amp that I just installed. The sound is so much better with the amp, but now I realize I need a subwoofer. I bought a 10" amp enclosure box from Wal-mart, now I just need a subwoofer and amplifier for it. My concerns/questions are as follows. I do not want to over power my current system or my alternator. What should be the RMS of the amp I use for the sub? I was looking at the US Acoustics 2050 from thezeb.com for about $70. It runs 150rms @ 4 ohms. The also have the CDT MS-100 10" sub for about $130. I am hesitant, because I do not know if I should drop some extra cash and get a more powerful amp and a sub with a hight rms value.
Any adivce or comments would be appreciated. I am trying to get by on about $150-200.

ps I also have an old Alphasonic MA-2025 amp I was thinking about just using in the meantime. The problem I have is the amp say 50W in the Mono mode, but it doesnt list a RMS. Does anyone know what the RMS on this amp is? I might be able to use this instead if it is powerful enough.
Thank you again for helping me.
Mike

ok what is the pioneer head inbuilt amps power for each channel is is about 50watts per channel? if it is just run all the speakers off the head unit and run the sub off the amp but with the amp and the sub just try to match the Rms of the sub with the Rms of the amp and it should be all good
