Totally install dependent. You may gain a few .10ths of a Db by switching drivers from one to another.

You're better off buying the cheapest sub that will handle the power you want and building a ton of enclosures.

There was a local guy doing high 150s with 4 cvx 12s and 2 memphis 4kws non-walled. He spent half as much on all 4 subs as you would on a new btl/mayhem/9500.

I've loved my BTLs, and had great customer service, so I would do BTL or Mayhem, whichever I could get the best price on.

I dont want to hijack the thread or anything but you are close enough to my coverage area. I can cut you a deal on some Atomic products(3 yr warrantee). but if i had to choose between the mentioned above id go with a BTL.

DD9515 is what I would go with, simply because the faces of DD are at most big shows and they are awesome guys overall.

my opinion isn't biased at all

APX/X is a badass sub. capable of 5kw daily...and thats coming from Atomic themselves. I've heard of guys 7kw+ daily on a single apx/x, but that would probably depend on what gap you have and the coil within it.

Hey no Limit, what's the difference between the APX and the XX? At first I thought one was a 3" coil and the other was 4"...but I've seen guys sell 3" motors as apxx's? or is it the softparts?

I just became a dealer recently, I know alot about the products but some things i don't know yet. As far as the 3" voice coil vs the 4" voice coil; I can get the 4" voice coil on any of the higher end subs. I will call in the morning and get a detailed description on the differences and then i will let you know.

Sounds good, much appreciated Nolimit.

dBlk the APX is a bad azz sub. They can get real low too. I ran a 10" on my aq1200d @ 0.7 ohm and that thing wanged with such little power. It had a misaligned coil so i wired it to the wall socket and it laughed at it for a few minutes, the only reason it did fail was because the pole piece wore a hole through from the inside of former. the rest of the coil still had a great color to it.

SomeDonniedude, as far as the everyday customer is concerned you are right on the 4" voic coil comment. But as far as a dealer I can customize and sub I need for any application. The difference between the stock APX and APXX was mainly the voice coils. any other differences would be minor.

dBlk, I can get the apocalypse and quantum series in 18s as well custom made.

dBlk , i need to know what application you are using these for. SPL, Daily or both. the spls will not play music and the daily will not hit the numbers the spl versions will. Im waiting on an email about pricing on the AP18 and the ELE18 so that i can give u price comparison. Also how many 18 do you want to run and how much power.

I'd go with the DD.... a lil better efficiency

All the drivers are great! FI has the better CS out of them.

Doesnt the Mayhem use the same design as the old triple stack BTL's?!?!?! somebody correct me if I am wrong. I do believe FI is the buildhouse AA uses.
