Bronze Member Username: InvictuzSeattle, Wa Usa Post Number: 100 Registered: Jan-05 | If i leave the Orion 2500d (2500w RMS @ 1ohm) the same what difference will there be between these setups: Four 10" DVC MTX 81044a @ 1ohm or Six 10" DVC MTX 81044a @ 1ohm Essentially i would have more surface with less power running six. Does having more surface outwiegh having more power? Please correct me if i am wrong: four 10s @ 1ohm on 2500w = 625w per sub for 40" of total sub surface. Six 10s @ 1ohm on 2500w = 417w per sub for 60" of total sub surface. Which is better? |

Silver Member Username: InvictuzSeattle, Wa Usa Post Number: 113 Registered: Jan-05 | each sub is 400w RMS (http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/manualsQuickInstall/subs/T81044A.pdf) i am just trying to decide whether to add two more subs (have four more NIB in garage) when i have the new enclosure built in two weeks... having a custom single box with each sub having .80cf seal chamber enclosure with amp rack and lighting built for my JGC for about $2k. I need to decide now if i want six or keep the four currently installed to be mounted... |

Six 10s @ 1ohm on 2500w = 417w per sub for 60" of total sub surface." I think i have my question answered... The one thing i was trying to make clear is that i do not think the Orion will over power the four subs as that is what i currently have running... On paper the Orion should over power the subs but the reality is i have four 81044a 10" DVC subs running on the Orion 2500d at 1ohm (0 gauge/caps/etc...) and never once have i heard anything that made me even think of turning it down from the subs preformance (did melt an Infinity 1001t 90w RMS tweeter with a RF 301s 75w RMS amp) but i think the answer will be going with six subs...it will look cool too... time for my next thread "does adding more subs add more draw from the alternator" |
