a/d/s when it was a separate company made reference level gear.
they went through a couple of buyouts and during that time, they had a lot of problems.
Now they're owned by DEI, and are pretty decent stuff. Their amplifiers are solid. A lot of how good it is will depend on when it was made.

my dad has a pair of old a/d/s speakers in our living room. for only using asingle 8" woofer and a 3/4" soft dome tweet they sound amazing. get very loud as well. he bout them when he graduated high school and he's about 43 so not only do they still sound amazing but they have lasted a long time. maybe i'll get them someday :-) lol

yeah. we moved from exboard though. it's hosted on our own server now at caraudiocentral.net
the list gets updated every so often, when someone thinks of it, but it's been updated enough times now that the credit really goes to most of the admins ar CAC as well. Not just myself.

Oh, the link doesn't work for you or something? Well i'll just copy and paste it for you then:

This is the infamous Good, Bad, and Ugly list.

These are some pretty generalized groupings and also very subjective. We've simply based our experiences with the products whether they are direct installs, personal property or extensive research. You should always physically listen to a product before purchase because you are the one who will determine whether or not an item "sounds good" or not.

This topic, while being controversial, is simply a generalized guide meant for beginners in the hobby. Many brands specialize in certain items, ie. better amplifiers than speakers, better mids than subs, etc... Also almost all manufacturers offer entry level products as well as high quality lines. As I stated before, this is a GENERALIZED guide. It is your responsiblity to research and audition every brand before you purchase anything. Good luck with your decisions.

We've broken this section into 4 catagories:

to get that list, up to date, go to:
www.caraudiocentral.net
subscribe to teh forum (required to read the FAQ section)
then go to FAQ and Guides forum and read the recommended companies thread.

we had to lock the FAQ section from web click references because people kept plagerizing teh list on other boards and sites without permission or credit given.
