for best sound i always go with sealed in a hatch back, truck, or s.u.v some times bandpass, and for a trunk i would go with ported any time if your looking for best sound and not all spl
alot depends on what type vehicle you are putting them in. Although Brian seems to have covered it pretty well. But if all else fails just remember sealed is always good.
