Hi i'm looking to buy some new component speakers for my 03 mustang I don't really have a price limit (nothing ridiculous though) but if someone here could give me a few options that would complement my 12" fi Q that would be great. Thanks.

EDIT:
Also something that would run off my Kicker zx 250.2
85 watts x2 at 4 ohms
125 watts x2 at 2 ohms

well the Q is a great sounding sub so it would only be right to compliment it with a great sounding set of components. if you don't mind spending a little more any of these would be fine choices:

http://www.woofersetc.com/p5833/CL51A--CDT-Audio-Classic-525"-2Way-Componen t-Speakers.htm

http://www.woofersetc.com/p7320/FD5000--ARC-Audio-525"-Component-Set-with-S ilk-Tweeters.htm

http://www.woofersetc.com/p3079/CLE51NEO--CDT-Audio-2way-525"-Slim-NEODYMIU M-Speaker-System.htm

http://www.woofersetc.com/p3943/CXS52--Image-Dynamics-525"-2-Way-Component- System.htm

that was with just some quick searching. a definitive max price would help. also, the image dynamics set is 2ohm which will get more potential from your amp.

I currently have cdt cl-52's and have cdt es's waiting to be installed. the CL's are entry level but will absolutely kill the alpine IMO. Never heard the ARC's but if it was me i would DEFINITELY buy the ARC's over the alpines as well. Not an alpine hater either, very impressed with the type r sub for the $, as well as their 4 channels for the money (I've owned a mrp300-i think was the name, and have a buddy with the arrr's)

Thanks trevor, I guess i'll be avoiding the alpine's then. So I've decided on a price range of under $300 (but willing to pay more if need be.)

Would like to hear more on the CDT's before i buy one. Also would like to hear if anyone knows about the RE XXX speakers.

M.S. What specific model do you have. thoughts on the sound? bass? highs?

Also, anyone know the difference between the CDT lines? like the CL, EF, ES? etc.

i friend of mine had RE xxx comps and a customer of mine had some Fusion entry level comps and the guy with the REs was soo pissed that he spent so much and didnt sound as good as the entry level fusions. I think REs products today are overrated.

A lot of times midbass is going to be install dependent. If you deaden the doors and possibly make the door air tight or build kind of an enclosure for the midbass driver the response. Sean, Rovin, and MS i know for a fact make good suggestions you can just about pick anything they say if its in the price range. but there are other good brands to look into that might be a little less expensive n some cases.

Atomic
Diamond Audio
Image Dynamics

All ebay links in this thread have been fixed.

If you cut-and-paste a link from ebay using the "link" icon above, it should work. It seemed like you tried that method, but somehow an extra space (sometimes replaced as %20) was getting added to the url, which caused it to break.

I have ES-5 mids, DRT-25 tweeters (not sure if they use those anymore) and i forget what crossovers.

Highs are smooth and clear on any music. Mids are good also... although most decent speakers will all do good in the midrange... not a lot of variance there. In the tweeters is where you will hear better component speakers mostly.

Bass... from components? Ya know they have these things called woofers for that lol
Reason I say that is midranges should not be used for bass, it's very hard on them, even if they are capable of it. Even with a crossover at ~100hz you can still blow mids by pumping too much midbass through them... you really have to try but it can happen.

M.S. Thanks i think i'm going to go with the ES-520
http://www.woofersetc.com/p1107/ES520--CDT-Audio-EuroSport-525"-2Way-Compon ent-Speakers.htm

BUT, i can't find anything on it's independence. Anyone know if it will run at 2ohms? I'd like to get it but not if i'd be under-powering it by a good 50 watts.. :/

Also, M.S. Ha i was referring to a good mid-bass not deep bass from my sub but something that could give me a more complete sound.

Thanks a lot for the help so far guys.

scratch that would prefer a 6.5" driver..

http://www.woofersetc.com/p5091/ES610--CDT-Audio-EuroSport-65"-2-Way-Compon ent-Speakers.htm

http://www.woofersetc.com/p9108/ES610X--CDT-Audio-EuroSport-65"-2-Way-Compo nent-Speakers.htm

Again anyone have any idea on independce?
Also anyone know the difference why one is es610 and the other is es610X??

What about Infinity kappa Perfect 6.1? opinion on thoose?

So after hours of looking... i've come to this...

http://www.woofersetc.com/p9365/CL61A225-PRO--CDT-Audio-Classic-2Ohm-65"-2W ay-Component-Speakers.htm

Or the Infinity Kappa Perfects 6.1

Please help me choose so i can just start setting them up (:.

(ended up choosing those CDT's because givin my amp it's the only one i felt wouldn't be under powering it's recommended rms by a large margin.. but is the CS series significantly worse than es? if someone else has a CDT speaker that would be better and fit my amp's power please please post. ha from reading around I've fallen in love with what I've heard about CDT.)

Far as i know all CDT component sets are 4 ohm final impedance to the amp. ES series their top line.

http://cdtgold.com/es62i_2.htm

That is similar to what i have with a newer model tweeter and crossover. Doesn't get a whole lot better than that unless you start spending super big $.

" What about Infinity kappa Perfect 6.1? opinion on thoose? "

Terrible tweeters, very harsh.
