my uncle is working on a 68 gmc. he is working on restoring it now and is wanting me to put the system in.
he wants all out sound quality. im looking for any great ideas for a build. we will make kick panels and maybe put one 8s in the doors for mids. i know a lot of you guys are big into sq so what can we get for around 2000 that is a "good deal"?
if its over 2000 thats ok

the alt is pretty small, not sure if he will be getting a bigger one or not.

id go all around alpine, it'll be about 2000$ for everything, there is better sq out there but it'll surpass the budget

why the lol? If it were me id go zapco dc amps, 1 idmax 12, pioneer or alpine deck, a well made custom box, jl/alpine type-x/morel/focal comps, but your looking anywhere from 3-4k depending on where you buy it. Whit the zapco dc ref and the built in eq you can adjust all your sound withough having a seperate processor and a overly expensive hu

seas neo tweets
any decent amp really, zapco was a good suggestion
and the rest on prepping, deading, more deading, more deadening, and wiring accesories etc..

if you haven't caught my drift yet its going to take a lot of treatment to make the cab of that vehicle quite enough to enjoy music.

i am very interested sean! how much for a pair of 12s?
i found them online for only 65 bucks.

they are only 500 watts max... i was wanting to get a little more power to the lows.

alpine for everything? what kind of alpine components and speakers were u thinking?

so you say the rsd over the rsdc? im having problems finding any specs on any of the pg subs. any one have a link?

If you want to go with alpine type-x comps in front, 1 type-x sub, 1 pdx 1.1000, 1 pdx 2.150 channel and you can get all that pretty cheap on ebay

ya that is the same price.
im really not a fan of type x comps.

i like the cdt audio aluminum tweets i have. and the comps i have are pretty good. my m6 6.5s are just in my doors. so im not sure if they really put out nice midbass or not. in my car they don't.
i also listened to some pioneer components that i liked.

has any one listened to the audioque comps?
or what about the mb quarts discus ?

Zapco Ref750.2
Zapco Ref350.2
Image Dynamics IDQ (2x10")
JBL C608GTi MKII

That would leave you an easy $500-600 for hu/dampening/wires/install.

I would get as much second skin as you can budget. A truck like that could easily take 2 5 gallon buckets of spectrum. Maybe some luxury liner to help with road noise too.
I would say the sound deadening will be just as important as the equipment itself.
