I have 1 alpine type R 1242D DVC. I believe the sub is rated at 500 RMS (250 each VC). If the VC is 4ohms, can it only be wired for a 4 ohm load? I was looking at the Alpine MRP-M650 or Alpine MRP-M500 to power this- is this enough???

a single dual 4 can be wired to 2 ohms or 8 ohms an alpine m500 is enough

So just to make sure i understand this, the impedance on the sub doesnt really matter as long as the amp can handle the impedance....

A DVC 4ohm sub can be wired to an amp @ 2ohms???

thanks

it matters if your trying to get the most power from the amp.....like if the alpine amp puts out 500 watts at 2 ohms thats what you want....yes a single dual 4 ohm can be wired 2 ohms or 8 ohms
