This is likely a no brainer, but I figure Id throw it out there. Needing an amp for my 2-12" AQ sd2.5's. I recently got the newer model Memphis PRD1000.1D. I have $140 invested in the amp and will not have any trouble getting rid of it if I decide to go with my other option.
I can get a BNIB SAE-1200D for $220 shipped. It puts out 1200 wrms at 12.8 volts. Do you think I outta get the Sundown.
Keep the Memphis. There will be very little difference, if any, between it and the Sundown -- and the 2.5's are fine on 500RMS. Memphis gets a bad rap for the failure that is the 4k, but otherwise they make pretty solid stuff.
I've owned 5 or 6 of the pr 1000's and like them, hence picking up the newer model. This one seems to put out a lil more than the older model. I hooked it up to Shawn's 2-15"cvx setup and he is running 2 of the older model PR's. After final adjustments it was driving the cvx harder than the other one.... They are in seperate boxes in case you were wondering.. I know it is supposed to be more effiecient and they added a cooling fan.
I agree with Brad, the 4kw is a huge pos but the other stuff memphis makes is ok.
That said, the sundown is a better amp, and if you could find some local whos into brand names and get $200 or more for it.... than yeah get the sundown IMO.
