Svc vs dvc

I seen a jl 12w7 for a descent price online, but it says its a 12w7 svc, and they also had 13.5 12w7 dvc. I am curious as to what the difference is between svc and dvc. The site doesnt really explain.

Single Voice Coil
Dual voice Coil

DVC is much better,

the voice coil is the wire wraped up in the magnet which the amp powers. 1 coil of wire or 2.

Basic lines of increasing impedance

Cheap Sub
single 2 ohm
single 4 ohm
dual 2 ohm (4 ohm all together)
dual 4 ohm (2 or 8 ohm operation)
dual 6 ohm ( 3 or 12 ohm operation)
Expensive sub

And yes there are exceptions to this rule. The impedence dictates the amp or amps required to power each sub. For example a four ohm svc sub requires a bridged two channel amplifier.

Actually, DVC is better for wiring flexibility, that's about it. Many consider SVC better in higher end woofers for sound quality because of inductance.
