1 Icon
1 Elite
2 Classics
1 ID MAX
1 Sundown Nightshade
1 Epic
1 Mag
1 IA DP

What I've got it narrowed down to. Gonna run 1k to whatever one I get (Epic would get 600-800). Will go in a low tuned box about 30hz roughly. Not too worried about buying used. Pro's/Con's of any of these subs. Which should I not consider? Which would you get? I hate making decisions....

In the same postion Yanks, workin with a sae-1000d. Mag is takin to long to come out, epic looks nice, ID max is kinda pricey, and the best price seems to be the Icon but I dont know how good they are.

there are many pleased customers with the pair o' classics:-) Personally I would go for the new Elite, I'm assuming that's the one you listed. 15" or 12"

btw, would you still be interested in that rd1000.1?

Thieves, I am still interested. Not set on that amp but it certainly is a possibility.

Thanks for the input guys.

Does anyone know when the new MAG is supposed to be out? I've read about it on SSA but it didn't have a date or time frame that I saw.

I've got votes for everything but the Classics which is the way I was leaning when I started this thread lol.

Thanks for the input everyone. It is appreciated.

I think Kevin Holden is still running that pair on either a 1000.1d or 1750.1d, he could give you a more accurate review

btw, if you are looking to get ~1000wrms I'll offer you a lower price:-)

The mag is a beauty and a beast all in one. I can't describe her any other way. Chad, when I owned her, I loved her. Why did I give her up? Curiosity. I wanted to hear an 18". If SI made an 18" I would buy more than one, ok many lol.

I'm a man. What do you expect lol?

i hadn't even seen that nightshade... pretty nasty looking sub... with an Fs over 40 though, i'm not sure SQL (although it's supposed to be) would be it's strong points. i would go with the JBL or IDMax from what i've actually heard, but the new mag would be sweet... wish it would come out soon, but i don't think it will. SI is waiting until they can beat the old mags output and SQ

I'd also be hoping for a group buy price on it or a pre-sale price on it.

Yanks, I think some of the divers listed are a little away from what you want.

I am biased towards one because it is my company, but if your goal is a sound quality that has the ability to have strong output in a daily driver, then the IDMAX, MAG, and ICON are the ones that are designed for that purpose. I have not tested the DP or the Nightshade, but they are more focused on output first and very high power handling.

Sure I could sit here and say just get the ICON, but honestly the MAG, the IDMAX and even the Fi Q are top notch SQ drivers too.

This is a dumb question...but I have never heard of tuneing a box...I know how to tune the amp and HU...but what r u guys talkin about??

Nick S, in a ported box, you tune the box to a certain frequency. Most daily boxes are between 30-40hz while "burp" boxes used for competitions will be higher. A box tuned to 30hz will play lower than a box tuned to 40hz. People who use ported boxes and are looking for a more sq set-up will tune aroud 30-35hz. The tuning of the box is made by the length of the port in the box. Sub companies will give you a certain frequency or even sometimes a range you should tune in.

It's a combination of box size, port length/width, internal volume (sub displacement included), and any damping factors(if used).

Like Yanks said it's all about what you want out of the system.

To me a sealed system is more SQ oriented. Tighter bass. Ported, or (vented) for more efficient bass. It's all about the airflow with ported. Not saying a sealed box won't get low.

Ok well I have it narrowed down. I am going to run the Hifonics 1600 watt brutis amp on two of the following (ported) 12"

2 type R's
2 Kappas ( what I have now)
2 kicker CVX
2 eclipse 7200
or 1 RE SX

What would be the loudest and what would be the best SQL??? I really want it loud
