Bronze Member Username: AaaavvPost Number: 78 Registered: Jan-05 | yeah, most tweeters have a good lip om them so as long as you make a descent cut out the lip will cover every thing and they will look flush |

Bronze Member Username: AaaavvPost Number: 79 Registered: Jan-05 | you just cut the hole kind of tight and push the tweeter in there. the tight fit keeps the tweeter in place. you got to be careful when cutting the hole cause theres not really much room for mistake |

There is a fastener that screws in behind the tweeter, looks like this: \_/ and the tweeter assembly is above that "V", the V is screwed through the bottom of the tweeter holder and hugs behind the panel the tweeter is mounted on. |

Bronze Member Username: AaaavvPost Number: 82 Registered: Jan-05 | originally i had planet audio componets jonathan. the mid bass sucked on them but the tweets sounded real nice. the main issue i had with them was that when i turned up the volume real loud the tweeters would cut out. i initially thought this was a power issue so i went to the shop and they told me it was a built in circuit in the tweeters that caused them to cut out to protect the tweeters from over heating. i thought this was some straight bull sh!t. i coulde never play my system loud with out my highs cutting out. so when i bought my w7's i bought those jl componets. initially i was afraid they werent going to fit the holes that the planet audio comps were in but they fit perfectly snug. another friend of mine just put his in flush with nothing holding it in the back |

Gold Member Username: Jonathan_fGA USA Post Number: 3433 Registered: May-04 | The JL tweeter has circuitry to protect the tweeter as well. Nearly all high end speakers have some form of tweeter protection to isolate it from DC voltage, tweeters blow easily. It's not a bad thing, though. |
Bronze Member Username: AaaavvPost Number: 87 Registered: Jan-05 | my jl tweeters have yet to cut out on me though. my planet audio tweeters always cut out on me, even when i only turnrd my volume up half way i have a question for you jonathan. right now i have a crappy sony hu thats rated at 4 volts but when it was checked with a multimeter it was only two. ive been thinking about getting one of the newer 8 volt eclipse head units. how much would this help my sound quality. i know they have alot of great features, but will it make a big difference on my SQ? |

Gold Member Username: InvainMichigan United States Post Number: 1428 Registered: Aug-04 | I don't think you'd notice a huge difference in sound quality, but some possibly. Going from 2 to 8 will definitely cut down on any engine/alt or other noise in your subs though, if there's any at all to begin with. |
