Someone please explain this resistance question.

If a speaker is 2 ohms resistance per voice coil and it has two voice coils, how many watts would two of these speakers get a piece if I used an amp rated at 1200Wx1 at 2 ohms and 600Wx1 at 4 ohms. I am trying to match the proper amp to the proper sub. I would optimally like to run 300W to each sub but what do I look at in the amp rating to know if I am getting the right amp for my subs. Please, can someone explain?

A dual voice coil 2 ohm sub can be wired for either 4 ohms (series) or 1 ohm (parallel). So essentially, you end up with either two 4 ohm or two 1 ohm subs. The best combination you could come up with with that amp is wiring the voice coils in series for a 4 ohm load, and each sub in parallel to the amp, resulting in a final 2 ohm load, providing 1200 watts total (600 per sub). If you want an amp that gives each sub 300W, look into a mono amp that puts out 600W at 2 ohms, such as the JBL 600.1 or Kicker 600.1
