Hello guys i am new to this kinda of stuff but i wanted to know what Ohm means. I have seen 2 ohm and 4 ohm and differnt amounts of wattage the amp can give depending on which one. I was wondering what is an ohm?which is better? can i change the ohms? any help would be great thanks. DJ
Mentioning 2 ohm leads me to think maybe you are thinking car audio?
Regardless, here we go.
An ohm is a measure of resistance.Lower Ohms mean easier power flow, and an easier path for an amp to deliver power. Unfortunately, an amplifier is only made to deliver so much power. Too few Ohms mean the amp is closer to short circuit(zero Ohms).
