Im guessing that the more 'ways' there are the better the speaker, but tecnhincally i havn't a clue. Anyone? |
J. Vigne Unregistered guest | The more points there are in the division of the frequencies a speaker handles will determine how many "ways" it is. One bass and one tweeter make a two way; where one bass, one mid and one tweeter make a three way. There's a bit more to it than this, but, that's the basics. Each type has its advantages and disadvantages. There is no simple answer as to which is better. |

You can have more than one tweeter/driver/woofer devoted to the same frequencies but that doesn't increase how many ways it is. M&K S150 are two way, yet they have 3 tweeters and 2 drivers http://www.mksound.com/images/speakers/mains/S-150_THX/s150_150x166.jpg Another good example is the Bose Acoustimass speakers. According to www.intellexual.net, the Bose speakers are 1 way, since they appear to use a split crossover running both the paper cones in the speakers. |
