Is it possible to make use of a brand new 4 speed internal(computer) cd player & convert for fitting in an old hi-fi unit? Unsure of IDE connections on back of unit, voltage supplies not a problem. Aint worried if it plays full cd when cd installed. Hoping a shorting out of some IDE conns could act as an equivalent of "play cd " on a computer. Seems a waste to dump.

It will not sound good - you can get a nad cd player on ebay for about $60 that will beat it. I wouldn't waste the time with it, although I like being frugal too.

Thanks for replying Joong - Found some info on the web and it looked like inputs would be needed to operate player-may convert motor and gearage for some other use instead.
