James Taylor - New Moon Shine

I did not really like many of the tunes on this disc when I first purchased it. However, the recording and sound quality is so good that it is now one of my "go to" discs for evaluation and speaker placement. "Native Son" is a standout reference piece among an otherwise superb sounding CD.

Ozone Percussion Group - La Bamba

This is one absolute blow your doors off demo disk. I'm telling you if you like jazz with a classical twist and percussion (but not like Blue Man) with a big hall sound, it's worth a try. I don't think you can go wrong with this one. Strong recommendation as a demo disk.

I just got a ton of vinyl from a friend yesterday. 7 crates of it. Its going to take a while to clean the albums I want, but it'll be worth it. The guy who gave them to me has impeccable taste. I still have 2 more crates to go through, but here's some of what I've found so far...

Entire catalog -
Beatles
Hendrix
Rolling Stones
Led Zepplin
Jeff Beck
Bob Marley
The Who

Most of everything Clapton has done - solo, Cream, Yardbirds, and another that escapes my memory

Pink Floyd - Ummagumma and Piper

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions and Songs in the Key of Life, among a few others.

I guess I have to buy a record cleaning machine now. Anyone try out that KAB machine which is a Nitty Gritty without an internal vacuum (attach your own)?

One of the albums he accidentally gave me was Ace Frehley's solo album. My friend helped write one of the songs and sang back-up on 3 of them. He played in a band with him for a number of years before Kiss was formed.

I think I'll frame the album for him.

Very nice - gimmicky for sure. With cd's and Lp's it's easy to establish some sort of convenient storage system to visually allow a selection. These sort of gimmicky formats (apple shapes etc) deny a decent storage system.

However, a great marketing gimmick the apple usb is, but the demise of the cd is a long way off imo.

Art, you may want to check out "One More Angel" by Patitucci. Very satisfying. His wife is quite the accomplished cellist and his bother is a pretty darn good guitarist. It's a nice recording, drawing upon both joyous and sad periods, the latter inspired by their loss of two children during pregnancy. It is definitely not a solemn album, however. Very nice, IMHO.
