I have an Akai AP-A200 turntable and now it have a speed problem.

When is working the speed is uncontrolled, like full speed of the motor, no 33 1/3 or 45 rpm.

The motor I think it is a direct drive one.

I believe it's a problem with the speed sensor, but I don't know how this works in this kind of motors.

Does anyone knows this problem and a possible solution?

Where is the speed sensor on these motors?

Thanks

.

The majority of direct drive tables are servo controlled. There's usually a capacitor that hah gone bad in the servo network that will need to be replaced. It's not a job for the inexperienced and you should take the table to a service center where a techinican can perform the repair.

Thanks for your reply Jan.

I have checked the two electrolytic capacitors in the Akai, both are ok. I change them anyway but still with uncontrolled speed.

It have several ceramic capacitors, but I didn't change any of these.

More ideias are welcome.

Thanks.
