So I have my DVD player, I want to take the output L and R sound cables, and run them to my older Pioneer Tape Deck. There is an input (rec) and a output(play) on the back. Now, I plugged my dvd into it, and started to play but there is no sound being picked up by the deck, it is really weird. I was wondering if its maybe just pressing a simple button? or an option? or something?

Or could it be because I haven't hooked up the real speakers yet? (I did have headphones in, and watched the monitoring lights) and still nothing came on.

Please help me!

Plug the DVD into the input/record jacks, put in a tape and hit record/pause. Then you should beable to hear the music.

You want to record music from a DVD player?

Make sure that the DVD player is set-up to transmit or put out analog L/R signals and not just digital. The tape deck will not pick up digital signals.

Use the analog output of the DVD player into the "REC IN" jacks of the Tape Deck.
