I have been using my Nad 3155 for a year just using the bare wire from speakers into the amp terminals without plugs. Is this the best way or would you recommend other connectors? (See photo of type of connections on amp)

A godd bare wire connection is almost always best. The exception would be when the connection is only made temporarily or when the connection cannot be made in such a fashion that it would not be considered "gas tight".

Thanks, with the connectors at the back of the Nad it's hard to tell if the wires are making good contact or not!

If you can tug on the cable and it doesn't come loose, it's probably a sufficiently tight connection. Make certain no loose strands of cable protrude from the binding post.
