Technics SCEH790 Stereo, DVD problem I have had this stereo (with DVD player) about 3 years, and recently the DVD player has been coming up with 'NO DISC' when I try and play DVDs, it whirrs a couple of times and then just displays 'NO DISC' after about 10 seconds
This problem occurs no matter what disc slot I use (it is a 5 disc changer). I've tried leaving it a while, turning on and off. leaving off for a couple of days then trying, and even giving it a bit of a blow in case any dust was in front of the laser
Any advice? Or does anyone know where I could potentially get a replacement unit that would be identical in appearance and not look out of place in the middle of the stack?
I'd remove the cover and use a can of compressed air. If the laser has a good deal of buildup use a very small amount of alcohol on a microfibre cloth to clean the surface.
Otherwise it will be as cost effective to buy a new unit as it is to repair the current one.
